A “workplace” is a jungle of expectations. Many skills assist an individual in being a well- rounded employee. A bundle of skills comprising of “Oral Communication skills”, “written communications skills”, “technical skills”, “leadership skills”, “analytical abilities” make an individual a complete asset for the company. There is an underlying importance of every skill, but some skill set as in oral communication, written communication and technical skills outshine above all.

Preparation and planning are important if you’re to make the right first impression and have impact and influence so that your ideas get heard and your audience buy you and your ideas. But sometimes you have to go in cold and don’t know the people involved. This means the first two minutes are even more important. Don’t start the PowerPoint – start collecting data instead. Tune in to what people say and how they say it and you’ll be in a stronger position to impress, inform and influence.
